How to take care of your candle

To ensure your candles burn evenly and last longer, follow these essential care tips: trim wicks, allow  full melts, store properly, and clean regularly.

1. Trim the Wick
2. Allow Full Melts
On the first burn, let the candle burn long enough for the wax to melt completely across the surface, reaching the edges of the container. This prevents tunneling, where the wax burns down the center, leaving hard wax around the edges. Aim for a burn of 2-4 hours for optimal results.
3. Store Candles Properly
Keep your candles in a cool, dark place to prevent degradation. Avoid direct sunlight and fluctuating temperatures, which can cause the wax to become sticky or lose fragrance. A cupboard or a glass cloche can be ideal for storage.
4. Use Heat-Resistant Surfaces
Always place candles on heat resistant surfaces or in holders to protect your furniture from heat damage caused by melting wax.
5. Clean the Candle Vessel
If soot accumulates on the inside of the candle container, extinguish the candle, let it cool, and wipe it with a damp cloth. This helps maintain a clean burn and prevents smoke.
6. Avoid Blowing Out the Flame
NEVER EXTINGUISH WITH WATER
Instead of blowing out the candle, which can create smoke, consider simply placing the top on the candle or using a candle snuffer. This method minimizes smoke and preserves the wick for the next burn.
